| The backbone of RAF Bomber Command during World
War Two, the famed Lancaster, or “Lanc”, as it was
commonly known, stood out among it’s contemporaries.
It flew more sorties and carried more tonnage than
it’s counterparts, and operated in a variety of
roles. It‘s versatility allowed it to be modified
for special operations such as the renowned
Dambuster raids. The aircraft shown here is about to
cross the Dutch coast on it’s way deep into the
Reich. |
