| Lockheed Super Constellation 'Connie' |
|
The Super Constellation was an advanced version of
the Lockheed Connie series, appearing on the scene
in the late ‘40s. The mainstay of Trans World
Airlines intercontinental operations, it was one of
the first airliners to have a pressurised cabin
which enabled it to fly above the weather, thus
affording hitherto unheard of comfort to passengers.
This particular model, a 1049G, has wingtip fuel
tanks which added to it’s long range performance. |
